The PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) is currently accepting applications for its 2025 grant cycle. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations committed to integrating project-management skills into their youth-oriented programming and strengthening internal organizational capacity. Eligible organizations may receive multi-year funding to support initiatives such as:
- Embedding project management into youth skills and leadership curricula
- Expanding course offerings and instructional delivery models
- Evaluating and measuring the impact of project management training
- Developing innovative approaches to help youth succeed through project management
If selected as a Youth-Serving Nonprofit Partner, your organization will receive not only financial resources but also technical support from PMIEF. This may include assistance in program development, curriculum design, training, coaching, and access to project management volunteers.
Who Is Eligible?
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Focus primarily on working with youth aged 14–24, offering programs in areas such as leadership, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, or project-based learning
- Operate in one or more countries
- Hold 501(c)(3) status (or equivalent international nonprofit status)
- Maintain inclusive operations—services must be accessible without discrimination based on race, religion, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability
- Demonstrate willingness to collaborate closely with PMIEF to help youth gain project management skills
Grant Objectives
Proposals should address one or more of the following goals:
- Introduce project management as a life skill for youth aged 14–24
- Increase understanding and awareness of project management—especially among underserved or underrepresented populations
- Promote innovative delivery methods, models, and ventures that support youth success via project management
- Incorporate robust evaluation plans and ensure program sustainability beyond the initial grant period
How to Apply
The application process begins with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). Your LOI should include:
- Key organizational contact information (names, emails, phone numbers)
- A concise description of your organization’s mission and work with youth
- A high-level overview of your proposed initiative, showing alignment with PMIEF’s youth and project management priorities
- Expected outcomes and the number of youth to be impacted, broken down by country and “enablement” level
- A strategy for staff professional development and how it enhances your organization’s effectiveness
- A methodology for measuring impact
- Anticipated challenges and mitigation strategies
- Key partners (if applicable)
- A preliminary budget and intended outcomes
PMIEF defines three levels of youth enablement:
- Level 1: Exposure — Introduce youth to the concept and relevance of project management
- Level 2: Use Cases / Moderate — Youth engage in practical exercises applying project management theory
- Level 3: Application / Advanced — Youth independently manage projects using project management processes
