CYPA AFRICA
The Policy Advocacy and Leadership (PAL) Fellowship 2026 – Cohort 3 is a funded leadership programme designed to equip emerging Nigerian leaders with the knowledge and practical skills needed to influence public policy and strengthen governance. Organized by CYPA AFRICA, the fellowship brings together young professionals, researchers, advocates, and changemakers who are passionate about driving policy reforms and improving governance at the sub-national level in Nigeria.
The programme is built on the belief that sustainable development requires more than effective implementation—it also depends on innovative ideas, capable leadership, and evidence-based policymaking. Through an intensive learning experience, participants will engage with policymakers, academics, legislators, governance experts, and development practitioners while developing practical policy and leadership skills.
The fellowship combines policy education with mentorship, research, advocacy, and leadership training to prepare participants for meaningful public service and civic engagement. Fellows will also become part of a growing network of young leaders committed to improving governance and promoting positive change in their communities.
The Policy Advocacy and Leadership Fellowship is CYPA AFRICA's flagship policy leadership programme. It was created to develop a new generation of leaders who can identify public policy challenges, conduct evidence-based research, influence decision-making processes, and advocate for practical solutions that improve governance.
The fellowship is structured around six core pillars:
Throughout the programme, fellows participate in expert-led sessions, collaborative learning activities, policy discussions, mentorship opportunities, and practical assignments that strengthen their analytical and leadership abilities. Participants learn how to translate research into policies that can improve governance and public service delivery.
The programme focuses particularly on sub-national governance in Nigeria, encouraging fellows to understand policy issues affecting states and local communities while developing innovative solutions that can create lasting impact.
