The Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) Program 2026 is a funded international research opportunity that supports research collaborations between Canada and eligible partner countries. The program enables senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to undertake research projects at eligible institutions abroad under the joint supervision of a home and host professor.
Offered by Mitacs, the award is designed to strengthen international research partnerships while giving participants valuable global research experience. The program supports mobility in both directions, allowing eligible researchers from Canada to conduct research abroad and researchers from partner countries to undertake research projects at eligible Canadian institutions.
The Mitacs Globalink Research Award was created to promote international research collaboration by supporting academic mobility between Canadian universities and eligible international institutions. Through the program, researchers work on collaborative projects that address scientific, technological, social, and economic challenges while building lasting international partnerships.
Participants complete their research under the guidance of both a home supervisor and a host supervisor. This joint supervision model allows researchers to benefit from expertise at both institutions while gaining exposure to new research methods, facilities, and international academic networks.
The award supports one or two internship units. A single internship unit lasts between 12 and 24 weeks, while two internship units allow participants to undertake research lasting between 24 and 48 weeks or complete two separate 12- to 24-week projects.
