Applications are now open for the Yenching Academy at Peking University 2027 Scholarship, a fully funded Master’s scholarship in China for outstanding graduates and final year undergraduate students from around the world. The programme brings together talented young people with strong academic records, leadership potential, and a genuine interest in understanding China from interdisciplinary and international perspectives.
The Yenching Academy is a postgraduate college at Peking University in Beijing that aims to build bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary Master’s programme in China Studies. Each year, the Academy welcomes approximately 120 new students from China and abroad, with international students making up a large proportion of the cohort.
The programme provides scholars with an intensive academic environment where they can explore China’s role in the world, while also developing their research, leadership, and cross cultural understanding. Students have the opportunity to learn alongside peers from diverse backgrounds and develop a nuanced understanding of China’s past, present, and future.
The Yenching Academy offers an interdisciplinary Master’s programme focused on China Studies. Rather than restricting students to a single traditional academic discipline, the programme allows scholars to explore China through different fields and perspectives.
The Academy is designed for students who want to understand China in a broader global context. Scholars study, live, and learn together in an international environment that encourages academic exchange, cultural understanding, and collaboration.
Students can explore different areas of China Studies while developing their own academic interests and research direction. The programme is particularly suitable for graduates who are curious about China and its growing role in global affairs, business, politics, culture, society, and international relations.
The Academy also places importance on leadership, community engagement, social responsibility, and innovation. Applicants are therefore expected to demonstrate more than academic excellence and should show evidence of their broader achievements and potential to contribute to society.
Successful Yenching Academy scholars will receive:

The Yenching Academy Master’s programme provides opportunities to explore China Studies through several interdisciplinary research areas, including:

To be considered for the Yenching Academy at Peking University 2027 Scholarship, applicants should:
• Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme and be on track to receive their degree no later than August 31, 2027.
• Have an outstanding academic record.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China.
• Have a record of extracurricular achievement.
• Demonstrate community engagement and social responsibility.
• Show leadership potential.
• Demonstrate English proficiency.
• Be able to meet the academic and admission requirements of Peking University.
Peking University does not allow students to be enrolled simultaneously in another degree programme while studying at the university.
For applicants required to submit an English language test, the published minimum scores include IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100, Cambridge English Scale 185, or CET 6 score 600. Applicants should check the current official requirements to determine whether they qualify for an exemption or which test is applicable to them.
Applicants should prepare the following materials in English:

• Curriculum Vitae.
• Official academic transcripts.
• Diploma or certificate of enrollment.
• Two academic letters of recommendation.
• Proof of English language proficiency where required.

Recommendation letters must be written by full professors or associate professors, or individuals holding equivalent academic titles, and should come from professors in the applicant’s intended field of study.
