Applications are open for the MOVE ComCashew Call for Proposals from Emerging Agripreneurs 2026. The initiative invites young and emerging entrepreneurs to develop innovative business ideas across the cashew value chain and turn them into investment ready, climate smart agribusiness ventures. Successful applicants may receive financial support or business equipment to help develop their ideas and strengthen their operations.
The initiative is delivered through MOVE, which provides learning resources and a structured pathway for entrepreneurs to develop their business concepts. It is organised by the German development cooperation agency GIZ through its Agri Business Facility for Africa and the Market Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS Region project, known as MOVE ComCashew.
The programme aims to strengthen emerging micro, small and medium enterprises in the cashew sector. It encourages entrepreneurs to develop commercially viable ideas that improve productivity, increase value creation, strengthen climate resilience and promote more sustainable food systems. The broader objective is to improve investment readiness, support rural livelihoods and encourage low emission agricultural practices.
The MOVE ComCashew call provides emerging agripreneurs with an opportunity to apply knowledge gained through online learning to a practical business idea. Rather than submitting only a general concept, applicants are expected to develop an AgriCanvas that explains how their proposed venture will operate, generate revenue and respond to relevant challenges in the cashew sector.
Ideas may address different stages of the cashew value chain. This can include opportunities related to production, processing, value addition, marketing, business operations and other activities connected to cashew products and their commercial potential.
Climate resilience is an important consideration. Applicants should explain how their proposed business will incorporate climate smart practices or improve resilience within the value chain. They must also provide a clear explanation of their revenue model and an estimate of the capital needed to start or expand the proposed venture.
Participation in the competition is free. The required e learning courses are also available without charge.
Selected winners can receive one of the following kickstart prizes:
• €2,000 in direct funding to support business development.
• A laptop to support business operations and administration.
• A tablet or suitable software to strengthen business management and productivity.
• Access to free online learning resources on cashew agribusiness and investment readiness.
• An opportunity to develop a structured business model using the AgriCanvas framework.
• Support for developing a business concept that demonstrates commercial potential and climate resilience.
The prize awarded may vary. Applicants should not assume that every winner will receive both direct funding and equipment.
The call welcomes innovative ideas across the cashew value chain. Relevant areas may include:
• Cashew production and agricultural practices.
• Cashew processing and product development.
• Value addition using cashew products and by products.
• Business models that improve income and market opportunities.
