Are you a changemaker driven to tackle inequality and promote inclusive societies? The Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) offers an exceptional opportunity to join a global community of emerging leaders committed to advancing social and economic justice.
This prestigious, fully funded fellowship is hosted by the International Inequalities Institute at LSE and welcomes policymakers, researchers, social innovators, and activists from around the world. Fellows explore systemic inequality through academic study, collaborative learning, and real-world engagement.
Programme Overview
The AFSEE fellowship equips participants with the skills, networks, and analytical tools needed to address inequality in diverse contexts. The programme runs two main tracks:
1. Residential Track
Participants relocate to London for one year to pursue an MSc in Inequalities and Social Science at LSE. Alongside their degree, fellows take part in four tailored fellowship modules that explore the foundations of inequality, transformative leadership, and strategies for systemic change.
2. Non-Residential Track
This track allows fellows to remain in their home countries while pursuing practical, community-based projects. Participants join the same academic and leadership modules (both online and in person) and, upon completion, receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Social and Economic Equity.
Who Should Apply
The programme seeks mid-career professionals with a minimum of seven years of experience in sectors advancing equity and justice, such as:
Economic and social rights
Environmental justice and sustainability
Women’s, minority, and disability rights
Education equality and public policy
Housing, labor rights, and community organizing
Arts, peacebuilding, and transitional justice
Since its launch in 2016, AFSEE has cultivated over 150 fellows from more than 60 countries, with a long-term goal of supporting 400 global changemakers over two decades.
