Applications are now open for the first-ever UN Youth Townhall 2026, a global gathering that will bring together more than 1,000 young people, governments, United Nations entities, civil society organizations, the private sector, and other partners to strengthen meaningful youth participation in global decision-making.townhall

Convened by the United Nations Youth Office in partnership with various stakeholders, the Townhall aims to create an inclusive platform where young people can engage with decision-makers, build partnerships, and contribute practical recommendations on issues affecting their communities and the world. A limited number of participants will receive financial support to attend the event in Heidelberg, Germany.

About the UN Youth Townhall

The UN Youth Townhall is a flagship initiative designed to strengthen intergenerational dialogue and expand opportunities for meaningful youth engagement. Rather than serving only as a discussion forum, the event seeks to generate concrete commitments, partnerships, and collaborative actions that advance youth priorities globally.

The Townhall is expected to bring together participants from diverse backgrounds to discuss issues related to sustainable development, peace and security, human rights, innovation, education, technology, and other global priorities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Demonstrate an interest in youth engagement and global issues.
  • Be available to participate in person from December 8–10, 2026.
  • Complete the online application before the deadline.

The selection process will also consider:

  • Gender balance.
  • Geographic representation.
  • Participation of underrepresented and marginalized youth.
  • Involvement in grassroots organizations.
  • Applicants with little or no previous engagement with the United Nations will receive preference.

Eligible Countries

Applications are open to young people from around the world. Individuals from all countries are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.
