Overview

The Brooke Owens Fellowship 2027 is now accepting applications from undergraduate women and gender minority students who are interested in building careers in the aerospace and aviation industries. The fellowship was created to honor the legacy of Dawn Brooke Owens, a space industry pioneer and accomplished pilot, while creating greater opportunities for students who have historically been underrepresented in aerospace.

The programme welcomes students from all academic backgrounds, including engineering and non engineering fields. Applicants do not need to study aerospace engineering to be considered. Students interested in areas such as science, technology, business, communications, art, law, policy and other disciplines can apply if they have a strong interest in pursuing a career in aerospace.OWEN

The Brooke Owens Fellowship combines professional development, executive mentorship, alumni guidance and a strong peer community. Selected Fellows, known as Brookies, receive opportunities to connect with professionals working across aerospace and aviation, develop their careers and participate in programming designed to prepare them for leadership in the industry.

About the Brooke Owens Fellowship

The Brooke Owens Fellowship was founded in 2016 to help address the historic gender imbalance in aerospace. It was co founded by Lori Garver, former Deputy Administrator of NASA, Cassie Lee, CEO of Sound Future, and Will Pomerantz, an aerospace executive and longtime space advocate.

The programme seeks students who demonstrate talent, initiative, creativity and a commitment to service. Rather than relying only on grades or traditional academic achievements, the application is designed to give applicants several ways to demonstrate their experiences, character, interests, values and potential.

Since its creation, the Fellowship has developed a large community of Fellows, mentors and aerospace professionals. Alumni have gone on to work across areas including space exploration, aerospace policy, hardware development and aviation.
