The Harvard Global Health Institute Visiting Research Scholarship 2027 offers international researchers the opportunity to undertake a fully funded six-week research residency at Harvard University. About Harvard Global Health Institute Visiting Research Scholarship 2027
The Harvard Global Health Institute created the Visiting Research Scholarship Program to promote international collaboration in global health research. Through a six-week residency, visiting scholars are able to deepen existing partnerships with Harvard faculty while contributing to ongoing research initiatives.
The scholarship supports research in several priority areas, including health equity, infectious diseases, climate change and health, digital health, health systems, public health policy, community-engaged research, and health justice.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. In exceptional circumstances, applicants with a master’s degree may be considered.
- Be affiliated with an academic institution or research organization outside Harvard University.
- Have an established research collaboration with a Harvard faculty member who will serve as the faculty sponsor.
- Demonstrate evidence of previous collaborative work with the Harvard sponsor through research projects, publications, curriculum development, policy work, or related academic activities.
- Be in good standing with their home institution.
- Be eligible to obtain a J-1 visa to enter the United States.
- Meet all English language requirements necessary for visa processing.
- Be available to complete the full six-week residency.
Harvard Faculty Sponsor Requirements
Applications are submitted by a Harvard faculty sponsor rather than by the visiting scholar. The faculty sponsor must:
- Be a faculty member at a Harvard school or one of its affiliated hospitals.
- Have an established collaborative relationship with the visiting scholar.
- Develop a detailed work plan outlining the research activities during the residency.
- Arrange the scholar’s academic appointment and visa sponsorship.
- Meet regularly with the visiting scholar throughout the six-week program.
