Kectil Program 2027 for Young Leaders

Applications are now open for the Kectil Program 2027, a global youth leadership programme designed for talented and high potential young people in developing countries. The programme seeks young leaders, innovators, visionaries, social entrepreneurs and changemakers who are passionate about personal growth, community development and creating positive change.

The Kectil Program is hosted by the Malmar Knowles Family Foundation and is built around a one year web based learning and leadership experience. Since its establishment, the programme has worked to identify and nurture young people who have the potential to make meaningful contributions to their communities and countries. The programme combines leadership development with practical knowledge, mentorship, peer interaction and opportunities for community engagement.

The 2027 programme is open to young people between 17 and 26 years old who live in developing countries. Applicants should demonstrate talent and passion for leadership, scholarship or innovation, be proficient in English and have reliable access to a computer and the internet. The programme is conducted primarily online, allowing participants from different developing countries to learn and collaborate across borders.

About the Kectil Program

Kectil, which stands for the Knowles Educational and Charitable Trust for International Leadership, is a flagship initiative of the Malmar Knowles Family Foundation. The programme aims to prepare young people in developing countries to become ethical and effective leaders who can contribute to their communities.

The programme combines personal development with practical leadership skills. Participants are known as Kectil Colleagues and are expected to engage respectfully with peers from different national, cultural and religious backgrounds. The Kectil Code emphasizes respect, collaboration, service, participation and completion of programme assignments.

The 2027 programme also connects participants with a wider global network of young leaders. According to Kectil, more than 14,000 young leaders across more than 100 countries have been accepted into the programme over its history. Participants can continue engaging with the network through alumni activities and other opportunities after completing the programme.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Kectil Program 2027, applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Be between 17 and 26 years old

• Live in a least developed or developing country

• Demonstrate talent and passion for leadership, scholarship or innovation

• Have an interest in making a positive contribution to their community and country

• Be proficient in reading English

• Be proficient in writing English

• Have reliable access to a computer or smartphone and the internet

• Be willing to invest approximately 2 to 3 hours per week in programme activities

• Be willing to participate respectfully with colleagues regardless of nationality, religion or culture

• Be prepared to complete programme coursework and assignments

• Be passionate about advancement and creating positive change
